Home Visit Ethics in IGNOU MSW Field Work Training

Home visit is an important part of the social work field work training. If you are doing MSW/BSW course from IGNOU, you will go for home visit for collecting the data from your client or his/her family members.

During my field work training, I did door to door visit for data collection work. For the period of home visit, I followed various ethics of social work that were

·       Knock the door gently.

·       Say Namaste to the client / family members who will open the door.

·       Give complete information about reason of the visit including your introduction.

·       Remove your shoes/chappals/sandals if you are entering in the client’s home.

·       Listen the client carefully and collect the data.

·       Ask one question at one time and give proper time to your client.

·       Say thanks when you completed the work of data collection.
